Turnovers were the name of Saturday's Frontier Conference football game at Blue Pony Stadium as the Montana Tech Orediggers (2-0, 2-1) defeated the Montana State University-Northern Lights (1-1, 1-1), 17-13.
In the Lights' home opener, MSU-N turned the ball over eight times, but got a heroic effort from its defense, which forced Tech into five turnovers of its own. The Lights scored touchdowns on a pair of TD passes from freshman Derek Lear, one coming to Matt Stuart near the end of the second half, and the other to Orin Johnson in the third quarter.
The Lights go back on the road next Saturday when they travel to Eastern Oregon.
