Over the weekend the Montana State University-Northern Rodeo team performed in its second rodeo of the season.
    And Friday through Sunday, in the midst of the 30th annual Havre Festival Days, the Northern Lights and Skylights hosted the Havre College Rodeo at the Great Northern Fairgrounds in Havre. And cowboys and cowgirls not only faced rough stock and plenty of good competition, but had to face some tough weather conditions throughout the weekend.
    Making the trip were the men’s and women’s teams from the NIRA Big Sky Region, including Montana State University, Miles Community College, University of Montana-Western, University of Montana, Northwest College, Dawson Community College, Blackfeet Community College and University of Great Falls.
    The Lights placed as the No. 6 team overall, while the Skylights placed as the No. 5 team overall.
    The Long Round took part on Friday and Saturday.
    MSU-N's Tyler Bartelt of Moore split third through fifth place in the bareback riding, while Big Timber’s Charlie Mack split sixth and seventh in the bareback riding. Mack also had an outstanding bull ride over the weekend, good enought o finish second.
    For the women’s teams, Havre’s Kassy Brough placed fourth in the barrel Racing. Brough, from Havre, has now placed in both rodeos for MSU-N so far this fall.
    In the Short Round on Sunday, the Lights also saw Bartelt split third and fourth in the bareback riding.
    Thursday through Saturday the Lights and will be back in action. They will travel to Miles City for a rodeo hosted by Miles Community College.
