School board meeting; policy changes and reports
Zach White
Havre School Board is holding its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. today in the Havre Middle School auditorium.
According to the meeting agenda, it will start with some expense approval, then some policy changes and administrative reports.
Three policies will be changed:
• Modifying the existing drug policy to include prohibiting medical marijuana patients from drug-related activities in schools.
• Adding a new policy about workplace breastfeeding. Now legally obligated, the district will provide unpaid break time and a designated area “other than a toilet stall” with “provision for lighting and electricity for the pump apparatus” for nursing employees.
• Updating and reorganizing the “Use of District-Owned Vehicles” policy. A new van has moved the board to change the 5-year-old policy to a more broken-up outlined form.
Havre Public Schools Super-intendent Andy Carlson will talk about this fall’s enrollment numbers and last month’s American Indian Heritage Week/Day.
