Metra arena to be ready by April 15
BILLINGS (AP) — The general contractor working on repairing tornado damage to the arena at MetraPark says the facility will be ready to open on April 15, with box office and other improvements finished by May 17.
Those deadlines would allow Montana State-Billings and local high schools to hold graduations there, but it won't be soon enough for the state Class A boys basketball tournament scheduled for March 10-12.
Yellowstone County Commissioner Bill Kennedy says MetraPark officials are submitting a bid seeking to hold the tournament in the nearby Expo Center.
Montana High School Association executive director Mark Beckman says the association has not yet set a meeting to vote on the site of the state Class A boys basketball tournament.
