Margaret Lamey
   Margaret Lamey died at the age of 91  on Oct. 3, 2010.
  She was born in Garrison, N.D., on Jan. 14, 1919, the daughter of Melvin J. Gates and Tressie Allen.
The family moved to Havre, where Margaret attended Havre High School and graduated with the Class of 1937. 
On June 17, 1939, she married Donald E. Lamey.
While raising their two children, Margaret and her husband, Don, operated a small, neighborhood grocery store for three years. She later worked at Brown's Hardware, then went to manage the cosmetic department at Morrison Drug. She ended her career at Oliver's women's clothing shop.
Margaret often spoke fondly of the friendships formed during her work career.
In 1981, she and Don started spending time in Mesa, Ariz., eventually settling there to enjoy retirement in the sunshine.
Margaret was a voracious reader, always eager to share books and ideas. She was a generous and gracious lady. For her children's friends and extended family, her house was like a second home.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Tressie; her husband, Don; and her eight siblings.
Survivors include her son, Donald D. Lamey and his wife, Rose; daughter, Cheryl Lamey and her husband, Robert Kuhner; grandchildren, Paul Boyles, Jennifer Gray and Tim Lamey; great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Logan Gray; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Margaret spent her last years at Northaven Assisted Living, where she received caring support.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be sent to Northaven Foundation, 11045 8th Ave. NE, Seattle, WA 98125, or a charity of one's choice.
A memorial Mass will be held with a reception following on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, 4900 NE 50th St., Seattle WA 98105.
