The Montana State University-Northern men's basketball team opened its season with an emphatic 77-58 victory over the University of Regina Thursday night at the MSU-Northern fieldhouse.

LaVon Myers scored a game-high 19 points, including five 3-pointers and a run of seven straight points which helped the Lights pull away from the Cougars in the second half. Joe Simpson, Devin Jackson and Shaun Tatarka all scored 11 points each as Northern started the season 1-0. MSU-N is on the road next weekend at Black Hills State and South Dakota Mines.
