Lois Marie Butler
Lois Marie Butler, 79, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at the Big Sandy Nursing Home of natural causes. Cremation has taken place and her memorial service will be 3 p. m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at Big Sandy United Methodist Church, with Pastor Marvin Eldridge officiating. Burial will be held at the Big Sandy Cemetery at a later time. A fellowship luncheon will be held immediately after the service at the church. Memorials in Lois’ honor may be made to Big Sandy Medical Center or the Big Sandy Methodist Church.
Lois was born Oct. 31, 1930, in Great Falls, Mont. to William and Edna (Seifred) Drake. She was raised and educated in the Big Sandy area, attending schools in Box Elder and Big Sandy High School. She attended Northern Montana College in Havre, graduating in 1950. She then married Ellsworth Butler on June 25, 1950, at Big Sandy, Mont. Together they farmed and ranched and raised their family on the farms southeast of Big Sandy and north of Big Sandy.
Lois was a crafty lady with many hobbies that she enjoyed. She was a member of the Big Sandy Saddle Club, The Eastern Star, Garden Club and a 4–H leader.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellsworth, her parents and a grandson Travis William Pegar.
Lois is survived by her daughters; Barbara (Jeff) Herzog of Fort Benton, Mont. ; Linell (Randy) Pegar of Big Sandy, Mont., Sons; Ronald (Bonnie) Butler and Vance (Jean M.) Butler, all of Big Sandy, Mont., 13 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
