Lestina “Tiny” Schmautz
Lestina “Tiny” Schmautz, 93, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at the Marias Nursing Home in Shelby, Mont., of natural causes. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later time. Memorials in Lestina’s honor may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the donor’s choice. 
Lestina was born Jan. 7, 1917, in Three Forks, Mont. She was raised and educated in Three Forks. She married Herbert Schmautz on March 23, 1940. The couple had three children, Patricia, Lyla and Alan. Lestina worked in Great Falls for the Great Falls Northern Railway as a pipefitter during World War II. The couple moved to Havre, and she worked for Norman’s Western Wear as the bookkeeper, for Buttrey’s as a sales clerk and Valley Motor Supply as a bookkeeper.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing softball and bowling. 
She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Schmautz. 
Lestina is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Patty) Cetto of Great Falls, Mont., and Lyla Crabtree of Chester, Mont. ; a son Alan ( Sleet) Schmautz of Havre, Mont. ; seven grandchildren; 23 great -grandchildren; and one great -great granddaughter.
