HELENA. (AP) — The Judicial Nomination Commission has forwarded the names of two Havre attorneys to the governor, who will decide which one to appoint to the district judgeship being vacated at the end of the month.
Daniel Boucher and Brian Lilletvedt applied to succeed District Judge David Rice, whose is retiring on Nov. 30.
The commission reviewed each man's application and the public comments received. The commission found that each nominee was a qualified applicant, received significant public support and has a longstanding presence in the community.
Gov. Brian Schweitzer must fill the position within 30 days of receiving the names of the nominees. The new judge will serve the remaining two years of Rice's term.
