The Chinook Sugarbeeters defeated Power-Dutton-Brady 28-26 in a come-from-behind victory Saturday afternoon in Chinook. The win advanced the Beeters to the first state championship game in school history.
Trailing 26-6 at halftime, the Beeters' defense shut out the Titans for the final 24 minutes of the game. On offense, Chinook freshman Zack Molyneaux, subbing for his injured older brother Tyler Molyneaux, had a huge game, scoring the game-tying touchdown with 7:54 left. After Molyneaux's scoring run, Ben Stroh converted a two-point conversion to give the Beeters this winnign margin. Zack Molyneaux also intercepted a pass later in the fourth quarter to help Chinook hold on for the win. The freshman wound up with over 100 yards rushing and two scores, while Stroh also scored twice for the Beeters.
Chinook (10-1) will play defending state champion Wibaux (11-0) for the Class C state championship next Saturday in Chinook.
