Friends, family members and supporting community members are gathering tonight at the 5th Avenue Christian Church from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the benefit of 15-year-old Zack Ambler, who has gone through two surgeries for several broken bones after a four-wheeler accident on Oct. 17.
The event consists of a spaghetti dinner, a silent auction and quilt raffle.
“We’ve had a lot of donations and people who want to come out and help,” said Chandra Gooch, a family friend of the Amblers.
She said they’d received a 50” TV, tools and a toolbox and a Tennessee Titans jersey autographed by Marc Mariani, among other things.
A similar event was sponsored by the Havre Track club shortly after the accident, on Nov. 6, that also raised some money for Ambler’s considerable medical costs.
Gooch said that this is just another in a long demonstrations of a caring community.
“It’s very touching to me that this community comes together for so many different people,” Good said. “When it hits this close to home, it’s different.”
