Since when has Malta been Class "C." And if we're talking about basketball since when has Chinook been a dominating team on the basketball court in Class "C"? How about Rocky Boy prior to their move-up? How about Big Sandy? How about Power? All schools with enrollment smaller than Chinook. If your going to spout off ridicule and accusation at least get your facts straight. How stupid!

FYI: The MHSA put out in a press release several weeks ago, that it is on this years meeting agenda to take a look restructuring class "c" into 2 seperate classifications. Sorry Kyle, you may try to claim this idea as your own, but it has been out there for a while now. If you where really concerned about such excessive enrollment disparities, you would also point to class AA which has a spread of 900 students from the biggest to the smallest school. Class A has gap of 675 from top to bottom. Class B has a gap of 235 top to bottom. Some schools choose to stay at a higher class even though they qualify to move down. If a school out grows the classification it is in the MHSA will force it to move up. This may eventually happen with Chinook again, but at this time, just as when they requested reclassification, they fit the criteria for class C whether you like it or not. Just get over it.
By BEETERS 68 POINTS BETTER on November 25th, 2010 at 14:48pm
HAHAHAHA This is ridiculous!! Stop bitching!! Chinook only practiced for 30 min on the field the entire week so it’s not like they had an advantage! What else could have been done to this field to make it “fair Did you expect use to take heaters onto the field and un-thaw it? Its football and it is meant to be played in all different conditions. Chinook came to play and nothing/nobody was going to stop them from dominating that Saturday. So keep yourself busy trying to come up with completely absurd excuses as to why Chinook won to make you feel better. Whether it is that Stroh had “super-duper power cleats†or we purposely called Mother Nature and told her to dump a foot of snow on the field. No matter what excuse you can come up with both teams played on the same field and the obviously better team won!! BY 68 POINTS!!!

Kyle, very interesting. But one of those schools you mentioned is already in Class B and has been since last school year.
By Kyle on November 23rd, 2010 at 02:19am
Mr. Schneider, shame on you. You are trying to avoid the point of the discussion of equitable competition leading to a state championship by using an old debate tactic. Your attack on my psychological status has nothing at all to do with the fact that by moving into class C, Chinook has now won a state championship. So, let’s put the argument clearly. It’s not about psychology; it’s about math - and yes, even about equitable competition. Chinook’s win in football was highly predictable because the majority of the schools in class C are simply much smaller then Chinook. Your bragging rights are therefore questionable and it has nothing to do with my psyche or life being fair to me, by the way (I have actually had a very nice life to date). However, let’s move away from the emotional football championship and talk about North Central basketball which is now on your horizon. I found a listing of your grading class from last spring in a copy of your local newspaper, the Journal; I discovered that you will be playing teams in basketball this year whose entire high school population is smaller than your senior class last year. And I am sure you will brag about winning those games too. The point is; Shame on your school (and Malta too for that matter) and shame too on the MHSA for creating this situation. Class C has always been a special class, where schools “created†teams and searched for their bench players rather then students having to compete for places on the team. However, Class C in Montana is now almost unmanageable with the influx of teams like Chinook who have not been able to put together a series of winning seasons so petition to move down into a class status where they can dominate. But rather than beat a dead horse, lets’ look for a solution, and there actually is a model. We have a Class A and a Class AA in Montana so why can’t there be a Class C and a Class CC. Let’s say class C is now defined by high school enrollment of ROUGHLY up a70. Class CC would then be roughly 70 - 140 (another 70). B could be restructured accordingly and so on. Now what could the new North Central Class CC look like for basketball. We could include Chinook, of course, Malta, Box Elder, Harlem, Hays, Rocky Boy, Fort Benton, and Chester. That’s a nice size district, isn’t it? And pretty equitable, size-wise….but wait…..isn’t there something very familiar about this list? Oh, ya, if we took out Hays and Rocky Boy (which I don’t advocate) and added Big Sandy (which I do advocate because they seem to always produce THE tournament team) isn’t this the pretty much the old Class B? Hummmmmmm.

Wow, Chinook Sugarbeeters!! Great job playing football all season! The whole town is proud of your efforts! Ignore these losers who are being petty! Money is tied to enrollment in this state. I'm pretty sure this school will count every head to receive the state's per student allotments (however pitiful they are!) We are within the class C enrollment, and we are not responsible for what the requirements for that status are, have been, or will be...Perhaps there should be a class CC? For now, however, we are where we are. As for Kyle, I love how you guessed the last name of Viki (pretty sure the wrong one too), but didn't list your own last name. What the heck does Malta have to do with this anyway?? I sure hope you and Mike Schneider have nothing to do with mentoring kids because you obviously have nothing better to do than gripe and moan. However, your comments are a great teaching point in bitterness and jealousy...RIDICULOUS

Congratulations, Beeters! As an alum, I am very proud of your hard work and dedication. Enjoy your win and all the steps that it took to get you to this point!

Kyle, I'm sorry that life has been so unfair to you that you are unable to let a community celebrate such an accomplishment without injecting your venom. Your issue with our school enrollment and classification should be taken up with the MHSA. Your other issues may require more professional help. Mr. Schneider, considering the weather conditions, I think the community did an excellent job of getting the playing field ready. I was at the game and personally witnessed both teams playing on the SAME field. Your coach seemed to try to send the message that weather is irrelevant by wearing shorts in -10 degree weather. HE doesn't seem to be looking for excuses. I do think the Longhorns were a better team than the score indicated, but they definitely were not THE better team.
By Kyle on November 22nd, 2010 at 07:57am
Mike the comments are classic for Chinook fans. Sportsmanship was neve a strong suit there. And Beeter fan Viki Niederegger: as to the class C designation, I remember the articles in the Chinook paper about how poor Chinook could not get boys to join the team (they were not winning anymore in class B, by the way, so they wanted to move to class C). Now if you wish to talk enrollment, lets look at schools around Chinook in Class C: Chinook claims 113 enrollment (ya right); but.. Turner (28); Hays (80); Big Sandy (54) Geraldine (38); Highwood (32); Grass Range (20); Box Elder (87); North Star (48); Hindsdale (32); Frazer (40); At least Wibaux has at least 70 students enrolled. All sounds equal to me. You guys and Malta too should be ashamed of the lengths to which you will go to win in sports!!!
By Mike Schneider on November 22nd, 2010 at 06:07am
You asked for what we thought of the team and game...I think Chinook had a good football team and an even better home field advantage. Someone should have spent a little more time and effort into getting the field in better shape than all the heaters for the Beeters. I realize most will say this is merely "sour grapes" for having to endure that loss, but both football teams deserve an honest effort from the host team to attempt to ready the playing field as well as could be accomplished before game time. Whatever was or wasn't done, either intentionally or not, to prepare the field, the sad fact remains it was a subpar playing field, in terrible icy conditions that leant neither credibility or honesty to either team's efforts or performance. We heard remarks as leaving of how "terrible" our team was and how could we have been undefeated and the like. This misrepresentation of our team's ability was more a direct result of those field conditions than any testament to our team's worth on a decent field and not an ice skating rink. Yes, Chinook, you got your first state championship, and in Class C, on a lousy field of your own choice, and you may have had the better team this year but wouldn't it have been a better game if could have been played on a "football" field? Enjoy your victory, for usually what comes around, goes around. Maybe next time you'll take a little more pride in your field and a little less in yourselves.

The REAL point is people that are jealous should not voice their opinions because it makes them look like sore losers. The fact that people who do not know that school classification is based on enrollment, makes them sound ignorant. For that matter, if you cannot spell the word 'ridicules', don't use it. Remember that the next time you want to bash a BEETER, not only do they excel & win a State Championship Football game, they also excel academically! I am proud of the BEETERS and what they have accomplished!
Way to go BEETERS!!
By Kyle on November 22nd, 2010 at 03:03am
The real point is that they have no business in class C !!!! Chinook is a cry baby community and always has been. As soon as they failed to put winning teams on the field they manipulated a move from Class B to class C so they could win again. It is rediculous that a community of this size should be able to field teams against schools of the size found in class C. In basketball they will get to play against teams from communities the size of Turner, Whitewater, etc. This so called victory is a SHAM and a SHAME !!!

I'm so proud of these boys and feel very lucky to have witnessed this glorious event. Not only did these boys show up in sub zero weather to play some football, but they dominated. 74-6 should finally prove that these boys are undoubtedly worthy of a state title. And amidst all their glory and they showed the utmost respect for Wibaux. Every "hit" player was promptly helped back up by a Beeter and patted on the back. And to show how tactful this team and their coaches are, the whole forth quarter was played by freshman and non-starters. And who still thinks we play dirty?
Congrats Beeters on a great season!
