Legislature committee appointments made

Local legislators have been appointed to some key committees in the upcoming legislative sesion, including one appointment to a committee leadership role.
The Montana Legislature’s website lists Rep. -elect Kris Hansen, R-Havre, as vice-chair of the House Educataion Committee. Hansen also has been appointed as a member of the Judiciary, Local Government and Rules committees.
Rep. Wendy Warburton, R-Havre, who also has been appointed one of the majority whips, will serve as a member of the Judiciary, Legislative Administration, Natural Resources, and Rules committees.
In the last session, Warburton’s first term as a representative, she also was appointed to the Judiciary, the Natural Resources and the Rules committees, as well as on the Agriculture Committee.
Rep. Tony Belcourt, D-Box Elder, also serving a second term as a representative, has been appointed to the Appropriations Committee and Joint Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Services.
In the 2009 session, Belcourt served on the Resources, the State Administration and the Agriculture committees.
On the Senate side, incoming Sen. Rowlie Hutton, R-Havre, will serve on the Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation; Judiciary; and Public Health, Welfare and Safety committees.
Sen. Jonathan Windy Boy, D-Box Elder, has been appointed to the Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation; Business, Labor and Economic Affairs; and State Administration committees.
In the 2009 session, Windy Boy served on the Highways and Transportation Committee as well as on the Business, Labor and Economic Affairs and the State Administration committees.
