Beatrice Lucille (Ponke) English, 87, formerly of Havre, succumbed to natural causes, Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at the Sweet Memorial Nursing Home.
Her rosary service will be 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, at Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel, with her funeral Mass 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at the St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, with Father Dale Yurkovic officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Section of Highland Cemetery in Havre. A fellowship luncheon will be held at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish Center immediately after the graveside service.
Memorials in Bea’s honor may be made to Sweet Memorial Nursing Home, U.S. Highway 2 W., Chinook, MT 59523. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
Bea was born July 29, 1923, to Anton and Mary (Efta) Ponke in Wibaux, Mont., where she grew up and attended school. She moved to Havre to attend college at Northern Montana College and married Emilio F. English, on Sept. 6, 1942.
Bea was a homemaker and mother of six children. She was a devout member of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, Altar Society, GN Hi-liners and VFW Ladies Auxiliary and was active in Home Demonstra-tion and the North Central Senior Center. She was employed as a receptionist for the Havre Clinic and served as an election judge for many years.
Bea was preceded in death by her husband, Emilio F. English in 1967; her parents, Anton and Mary (Efta) Ponke; her brothers, Ray and Leo Ponke; her sisters, Dorothy Hinsvark, Elizabeth Callahan, Marian Folz, Blanche Hirshbeck and Delores Rada.
She is survived by her children, Frank (Dianne) English of Rapid City, N.D., Cookie (Bob) Brendgard of Bozeman, Mont., Betty Quinn of Beaverton, Ore.; Tony (Dixie) English of Chinook, Mont., Dave (Dana) English and Ed (Sue) English all of Spokane, Wash.; son-in-law, Mike Quinn of Big Fork, Mont.; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
