After a storied comeback, Montana State University-Northern junior defensive end Will Andrews has earned one of the NAIA’s highest honors.
Late last week, Victory Sports Network, one of the leading authorities on NAIA athletics released its 2010 NAIA All-American Team, and Andrews earned second-team honors at defensive end. Andrews came back for the 2010 season after missing almost two full years with a leg injury, and it was like he never left. He finished second on the Northern defense in sacks, and was among the Frontier Conference leaders in total tackles and tackles for loss. He also returned an interception for a score this season and stayed healthy to boot, playing in all 10 of Northern’s games. Andrews, a 2010 Frontier First Team All-Conference selection, was also Northern’s punter this past fall.
Wagner keeps shining
Former Havre Blue Pony great and Carroll College senior quarterback Gary Wagner was also part of the Victory Sports Network All-American Team. He was also one of 10 finalists for NAIA Player of the Year, and was recently named Montana Athlete of the Year by the Helena Independent Record.
Wagner was among 10 Carroll players to earn all-american honors this fall. Eastern Oregon’s Seath Kimball, who led the NAIA in sacks for the second straight season, was also named to the first-team defense.
