Meetings in Billings Tuesday yielded progress as far as exapnsion to the Frontier Conference. League officials have accpeted a plan to invite and accept Dickinson State University to join the Frontier Conference as a full member, meaning the Blue Hawks will compete in all sports offered by the Frontier. Southern Oregon was also approved to join the league as a football-only member. Expansion talks also included Menlo College of California and Jamestown College of Jamestown, N.D., but both schools pulled back from joinging the league on Tuesday. Frontier officials have yet to make an official statement on the expansion of adding DSU and SOU, but MSU-Northern athletic director Mark Samson confirmed that Tuesday's meetings in Billings set in motion the plan for DSU and SOU to join the league starting 2012-13.
