The Montana State University-Northern men's basketball team took one big step towards securing at least a share of the Frontier Conference championship. On Friday night at the MSU-Northern Fieldhouse, the Lights beat No. 22 Westminster College 64-58. Now, Northern is one win away from locking up at least two home games in the upcoming Frontier playoffs.
Against the Griffins, the Lights used a 10-0 run, sparked by a Ben Mitchell 3-pointer to lead 33-23 at the half. The Griffins tightened things up in the seocnd half, but Northern made key shots and free throws down the stretch to secure the win. Mitchell gave the Lights 10 points and five rebounds off the bench, while Joe Simpson led the way with a double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 boards.
The Lights improved to 9-4 in conference play heading into Saturday night's regular season finale against LC State. That game tips off at 8 p.m.

We also need to show our beloved Skylights that we appreciate their fiery spirit too. These ladies played their hearts out and were pressing hard against the hard-playing Lady Griffins. Laramie's fury is the driving spirit behind these amazing ball players. Let's cheer them to victory ahead of our Lights' victory tomorrow night. GO LIGHTS AND SKYLIGHTS!
