Liberty County officials say a 43-year-old farm cook died of hypothermia after the car he was driving got stuck in the snow and he sought shelter in an unheated tool shed.
Undersheriff and Coroner Doug Riggin tells the Great Falls Tribune that Martin Harold Lane died sometime between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning on a farm south of Chester.
Riggin says Lane left the bunkhouse sometime Sunday afternoon and got his Cadillac stuck in the snow about 350 feet away. Riggin says he left his car and attempted to walk back to the bunkhouse, but entered the tool shed instead.
Riggin says Lane was wearing a jacket, but wasn't appropriately dressed to be out in the cold for any length of time.
The farm's owner reported Lane missing on Monday.
