New York-based Cablevision has officially moved out west.
After buying Bresnan Communi-cations for $1.4 billion a year ago, the cable-provider announced this week that Bresnan is now called Optimum.
With the Optimum rebranding comes a few changes, including reorganization of cable channel packages and internet services, but existing customers can keep what they have.
According to Cablevision headquarters in Bethpage, N.Y., current Bresnan customers will be able to keep their current service packages and email addresses, and there are no immediate plans to force any changes.
They feel confident that the new changes will convince not only existing Bresnan customers to stay, but also customers of other competing services, to make the switch.
“Consumers... have never seen anything like the advanced technology and competitive prices we are offering for cable, high-speed Internet and voice services, ” said John Trierweiler, Cablevision’s executive vice president of product management. “We are continuing to invest in our network and operations providing service in the Havre area. ”
These changes include rearranging and renaming Bresnan’s eight cable TV channel packages into Optimum’s seven, which moves some movie channels like Showtime, Encore and Starz down from the highest-tier.
Internet services will see some speed increases as well, with accompanying name changes.
Bresnan’s Speed Plus is now Optimum Online Boost.
If Bresnan customers do choose to move into the new Optimum services, their Bresnan emails will be sent along to whatever their new email would be.
