Just because some parts of Hill County are still fighting annexation in an ongoing litigation process, doesn’t mean that pwoperty owners who want in can’t join the city of Havre.

During Monday night’s City Council meeting, the council began annexation processes for two groups of property on the southern edge of town.

A resolution was passed with recognized the request from McLain Homes, LLC and the District IV Human Resources Development Council to have new platted lots and tracts annexed by the city and to set a date for a public hearing, one of the first steps in the city’s newly outlined annexation process.

That hearing will be held at City Hall on Tuesday, July 5. at 6:30 p.m.

The city also approved the annexation of the Industrial Park south of Havre on U.S. Highway 87 into Rural Fire District No. 1.

The district currently extends from Kravick's Corner in the south to the New Media Broadcasters building in the morth and from the Big Red barn out west to the old rest stop in the east.

The Rural Fire District extends a few miles out of town in all directions and contracts with the city to have the Havre Fire Department to provide protection from fires.

Before this annexation, the Industrial Park was in the jurisdiction of the Bear Paw Volunteer Fire Department.

This is one of the steps the city is taking toward preparing possible production plant projects for the park.
