One of Havre’s top female golfers in recent years just finished an outstanding 2011 college golf season at Montana State University-Northern, and for her excellence on the course, and in the classroom, she has received one of the highest honors in NAIA sports.
Former Blue Pony and current Skylight golfer Stacey Sheppard was named NAIA Academic All-American for the 2010-11 golf season. Sheppard just completed her junior season at Northern and was the top scoring golfer on the MSU-N team. Sheppard was a four-year letter winner at Havre High upon graduating in 2008.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor. Eighty-two NAIA student-athletes received the honor.
