A champion has yet to be crowned in the Havre Youth Basbeball Association Babe Ruth Baseball tournament, but the stage is set.
Today at 5:30 p.m. Wells Fargo and Northern Montana Hospital will face off at Legion Field in Havre for the Babe Ruth championship. Northern Montana Hospital has yet to lose in this postseason tournament, while Wells’ only loss came at the hands of Northern Montana Hospital in Saturday’s late game.
Leading up to the championship game, Legion Field was home to several games.
On Friday things got kicked off with Wells defeating Chinook, followed by Northern Montana Hospital beating Rocky Boy. Saturday play continued with Northern Montana Hospital defeating Optimist and Chinook defeating Rocky Boy by way of forfeit.
Sunday brought two more games to Havre, as the field was narrowed to two teams to play for the championship.
In game one of the evening, Optimist defeated Chinook. And in the nightcap, Wells Fargo overcame a six-run deficit to earn their way into the chipper. Wells Fargo trailed 8-2 to Optimist, but produced seven runs in the sixth inning to capture the win.
Northern Montana Hospital holds a slight edge over Wells Fargo only because they defeated them in their first meeting of the tournament. But with the title on the line, both teams will be prepared to battle tonight at 5:30 at Legion Field in Havre.
