The weather has certainly started to heat up, and so has the golf around Havre and the Hi-Line.

    Golf has returned to normal at Beaver Creek Golf Course. Earlier this summer, the course experienced major flooding for the third time in as many years. BCGC was inundated with water twice last year, and it happened again last month as Beaver Creek spilled over its banks and onto the course due to a spring which saw late snow melt and plenty of rain.

    However, things are back to beautiful at BCGC, as the greens are once again in tremendous condition and the course overall is looking lush and green.

    Last week’s men’s league action at BCGC saw Black Butte Electric earn high-team honors. The team was composed of Ross Lappe, Jim Omlie, Bob Keeler and Chad Edgar. Mike Purkett shot a 38 to take low gross for the night and Jeff Henry was low net with a 31.

    Also on Thursday night, in ladies’ league action at Prairie Farms Golf Course, Northern Montana Hospital scored 22 points to earn high team for the night. The team is made up of Carol Culp, Patti Nault, Terri Earl and Kim Klein. Ali Ward was low gross with a 3-over par 39, an excellent score, while Mary Ann MacLean was low net with a 29.

    Speaking of the ladies, it’s not too late to sign up for next weekend’s annual Havre Women Fighting Breast Cancer Tournament. The event raises money for breast cancer research and awareness and is a 9-hole, three-woman scramble which will be held on July 30 at Prairie Farms.     Prairie Farms men’s league golf last week was interrupted by some mighty thunderstorms which rolled through Havre on both Tuesday and Wednesday night.
