I think this whole re-election is a crock! If the tribal council don't want someone in that is not willing to go along with their crookedness then this is exactly what happens! Vote Stacey Small for a change and for the future of our tribe!

There family is also on the 1909 census so he has every right to be on the council. Maybe you should try and learn some of your culture and history before you open your big mouth. hai hai

RBRezident, I don't think you know anything about me, I am a vet, worked off the reservation all of my life, have never depended upon the tribe for my living, I pay rent, taxes that you are probably using for welfare, food stamps and such, I have a degree, and my children have never lived on public assistence, But as far as my mind being weak, get out and make a living and see how strong you mind is off the REZ, I have never received a turkey or 100.00 for my dinner, I make more money in 1 month than you will in your lifetime. You don't know me so don't comment on my mind

Around and around we go as the latest rendering of musical chairs begins this week, when the music stops, the Chippewa Cree Tribe will have its ninth council member to help lead our way. With no incumbents in the game, rest assured that no tribal funds will be used to buy the election, no procedural errors and marked infirmities committed by the election board and tribal courts, and finally a fair and honest election. We hope. Will the people finally choose a person who will not succumb to a decadent political system characterized by a lust for money and no sense of responsibility? A system marked by unrestrained self-indulgence. It’s a fact that corruption exists throughout the tribal government and it’s a compelling factor on why we are in the state we are in. The people live in a beautiful homeland, but our leadership has shown no clue of how to address a moral and cultural decline in our community. So as the election nears, put away your personal biases, think about all the candidates, and choose a person that’s puts the community first, and self last.

I live in Great Falls and have never recieved any compensation for traveling to Rocky Boy to vote. What was that $100.00 plus a turkey and a meal? Voting is a right and a privelege and I vote because I want the right person for the job, one that will be a true leader respresentative of each and every enrolled individual. I may live off the reservation but am still concerned with all issues good or bad.

The tribe needs to start being fair with all families the nepotism needs to stop. I hate to say this but I am embarrassed of my own tribe, my own people. Look at the condition our tribe is in. Nobody is about helping their people only themselves..it's very sad. We have lots of educated people up there they get shamed out of jobs because of their education "because their too good".. In the last few years the tribe has made some very poor decisions and its pretty obvious what that decision was. It's embarrassing coming home to see that parking lot empty and tumbleweeds rolling across...I see other tribes with great business ventures to their benefit, smart decisions being made. We need smart, educated, and most of all people who know our culture, values and morals sitting in council not handing out money left and right, not pocketing money for themselves but instead finding ways of helping our tribe grow in a smart healthy way. I agree with having the absentee vote to the fullest whoever gets in there please try to make that change. I would like to see our tribe change in a good way this embarrassment needs to stop, the embezzeling needs to stop take a good hard look at how your people are living and try to come up with SMART ideas on how to make changes. thank you Aho...

Sick and Sad, I have worked with all of the Native American tribes in Montana and over 40 Native American tribes within the three-state area of Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas and have come to this conclusion... All Native American tribes have the same issues (nepotism, shady politics, uneducated staff, greed, and lack direction)... So in conclusion, if you say the other Montana reservations are laughing at the CCT council, it seems to me that maybe they would look in their own backyard first sorta speak... I sure do hope a change come soon to the CCT..

I saw another headline on HDN that kinda says; 'tribal leader asks for accountability' i almost fell off my chair laughing. the story was about the blackfeet so i calmed down somewhat. If you really think about what is going on in Rocky Boy it goes like this: they own and control the newspaper and the new radio (govt control of media) they have forced all contractors (independant businessmen/women) to either work for Chippewa Cree Construction (merger of state and corporate) and they require their minions to keep their mouths shut to work for them, or lose your job.
Everything they do indicates on thing: Rocky Boy is in all forms, by any reasonable definition; a Fascist state; Hitler would be proud of Mr. SunChild

I guess I will put my two beads worth in. That is if HDN lets me comment. I agree with Jay Swan there is a way the council could let everybody vote especially some us who do not live there because of work or whatever reason. I guess years ago you could vote absentee if you did not live there but the council put a stop to it because Rodger St. Pierre was getting to many votes absentee and was always getting elected. If they did the absentee system right it could work. I do know there are alot of that would vote that do not live there. hai hai

Oh yeah I forgot to mention all of these tribal vehicles that these employees use on a daily basis for their personal use needs to stop. I see the CCCC vehicles on a daily basis after hours being driven with horse trailers attached to go roping. This is complete fraud. Also at water resources the boss uses the vehicles on weekends takes it home drives it like it is his own and the tribe is footing the bill. The list goes on and on. For gosh sakes. It all falls back on morals and ethics. Make these people sign these vehicles out on a daily basis and monitor the gas and the mileage. Why aren't people held accountable for thier dishonesty? I would like to see the expenditure reports for the gas and the mileage that these tribal vehicles are racking in on, yes our expense. I will say it until i'm blue in the face fraud fraud fraud. Also,restructuring needs to take place within the whole tribe. Make everyone reapply for their positions. Make sure you give the jobs to ENROLLED MEMBERS WITH EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION. We have enough people working on our rez that aren't even from here making big bucks. Send them back to their own reservations to get jobs we have enough umemployed, educated people. Open your eyes people. We need accountability, educated, enrolled, dependable, honest, women/men in the council. Whoever gets in needs to make all the expenditure reports public. Show us where these monies are being spent. Bunch of thieves if you ask me.

Why should sick and sad give any solutions to the problems that need to be addressed? The councilmen know what needs to be done. I'm sure they have some ethics and morals, but greed is getting the best of them though. Plus look at how long these men have been in office. Way too long. They do not have to be held accountable for any of their actions. The community lets this occur. FBI help please start digging into their financial history. They are fradulent in almost all of their actions. This nepotism has to stop. Their kids and their wives all have good jobs and they have to give their kids the jobs because they are not capable of making it elsewhere. These jobs are handed to them so the council don't have to pay their bills for them and their grandkids. What a joke. Mindy, looks like you wanted solutions but you didn't even offer any yourself. It will never end unless we as a community start demanding and attending every council meeting. Why give solutions to the tribal council when they will just take credit for someone else's ideas? Also why are the people that embezzled still working in the finance departments? Clinic,Gambling Hall, Tribe. What about the loans? Why are the councilmen getting loans they live for free and make $80,000.00 + a year. Greed plain greed.

Again, I strongly agree with sick & sad. Come on now ppl vote for the person that best suits this position. Not because they are your family members or because they told u who to vote 4. Also, the younger generation needs to start letting their voice be heard. Go vote. Every vote counts. Vote Stacey Small. Donovan of course is putting his name in the hat, for what he can't even hold a professional conversation, he is just going to steal the over the hill vote from Stacey. Go Stacey.

Isn’t the reason for the special election enough for all, especially the FBI, to realize that crimes are being committed within the tribal government? Instead of trying to solve the problems, the present council kicks back comfortably numb, and doesn’t say or do anything. To do so would jeopardize re-election, all the while everything remains status quo. We need council members that are not afraid to stand up for honest government and are less self-serving. Solutions: get fresh faces on the council, one next month, and another five new members in 2012.

Solutions anyone? Sick and sad always has sad comments but no solutions or suggestions to offer. But he/she is confident that they know all the dirt, Sick and Sad should run for Council. I might vote for him/her if they offer their suggestions to the problems that he/she brings to light. And on another note, I remember a while back when RB was the laughing stock of the 7 reservations. No new condition for us.

I agree with sick and sad their needs a lot of changes. If you don't live on the reservation you can't vote but they take tribal vans to pick up all of the crees in Greatfalls, pay them 100.00, turkey, meal and bring them to RB and take them home. Look at the ones who count the votes.

There is much negative I can say, but won't. However, it would be good if the council and election committee re-instituted absentee balloting, with much supervisions of course. Those of us who have found that it is easier to uproot ourselves to survive, are only known as numbers to get more monies from the Feds or grants. So far, I only see one name on the ballot that really deserves a chance at the councilman job, and that person has stood up for his (and every other enrolled members) rights and went against the status-quo. I don't need to mention any names because I'm sure everyone knows who I am talking about. I may have uprooted myself from RB, but RB is always going to be my "HOME," and my children's home. So when you get in there Stacey, can you give us absent members our voting rights back please?

Medic55, who needs "evidence" when it is pretty darn apparent that these fools running the Chippewa Cree Business Committee are not doing their jobs correctly, as seen by the slew of the Tribal elections being/going on. The FBI should step in and audit ALL expenditures that these fellas made/make, and if they (tribal council)have nothing to hide, why aren't they making ALL budgets and expenditures available to the public to see where every last penny was spent? I myself totally agree with EVERY statement that Sick and Sad has made in his/her posts regarding the Chippewa Cree Tribe's affairs. By the way Medic55, your statement is weak, just like your mind..........

Sick and Sad, where is your evidence that Rocky boy is is the laughing stock on Montana, Maybe if you are an enrolled member of the Chippewa Cree Tribe you can put your name in the hat to see if can make any changes that are much needed up there, other wise get a life.
