The Havre High boys and girls golf teams have reached a critical point in the 2011 season. And Saturday, the Ponies will get a good prep for the 2011 Central A Divisional.

Havre will be in Lewistown Saturday for the Lewistown Invitational, an 18-hole tournament at Judith Shadows Golf Course.

The Ponies are coming off a pair of first-place wins at the Browning Invite last weekend at the East Glacier Lodge. But perhaps more importantly, HHS is scoring better each time the Ponies step on the course. Havre got personal-best rounds from Spencer Morkrid and Dani Murphy last weekend, while stalwarts like Simon McCann, Sam Lippy, Nikki Gabrielson and Katie Beck are all playing well right now.

This weekend also marks the start of a tough stretch for the Ponies. After Lewistown, HHS will play at Billings and Laurel next Wednesday and Thursday, then host the Havre Invitational at Beaver Creek Golf Course on Sept. 17. Those are the final three tournaments before the Ponies return to East Glacier for the Central A Divisional on Sept. 24.
