The Havre Blue Ponies turned a bad start into a 16-point Class A quarterfinal win Saturday afternoon at Blue Pony Stadium. The Hamilton Broncs blocked a first-quarter Havre punt and returned it for a 7-0 lead, but from there, it was all HHS as the Ponies won 30-14 and advanced to next week's Class A semifinal in Dillon. The win gave Havre its first victory in the playoffs since 2004.
Thurman Holdsclaw had a rushing and receiving touchdown, while Brayden Grimson also caught one of two TD passes from Justin Jensen. Leading 22-14 with two minutes left in the contest, Ryan Brandt put the game away with a diving, 6-yard TD run.
Havre improved to 7-3 on the season and will now travel to top-ranked Dillon this Saturday for a semifinal showdown with the Beavers.
