Theater lovers, music lovers and fans of fairy tales have a chance this week to see a classic as the Havre High School Drama Department and Montana Actors’ Theatre produce Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” this week and next.
Director Angela Pratt said the show is a perfect opportunity for people to see a play as a family.
“They can come have family time,” she said. “It is such a neat show, and they won’t be disappointed
The massive production — with nearly 55 actors including Havre High students and community members from Havre and east and west on the Hi-Line, as well as massive costuming and set-production efforts.
“It looks so good,” Pratt said. “It’s so magical and fun and cartoony.”
She said the cast has been “awesome,” including many first-time actors being very quick studies, and all of the actors being helpful in the production.
The cast includes Amanda Dolph as Cinderella, Anthony Cammon as the stepmother, Oriah Pratt and Mindy Smith as the stepsisters, Luke Pratt as the king, Melissa Rague as the queen, and Haley Lippy as the fairy godmother.
The orchestra also has risen to the occasion, Angela Pratt said, with community members including people coming to a local musical play production for the first time joining the Havre High School band.
This year has been a challenge for the orchestra, she added — the musicians will be playing right on stage.
“It’s so neat to see them, and it makes the production,” Pratt said.
The play runs Thursday through Saturday this week and next, with performances at 7:30 each night and matinees each Saturday at 2 p.m.
Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for students and free admission for children 5 and younger.
