After finishing the 2011 season with a record of 7-4 overall, and reaching the Class A state semifinals, the Havre High football team turned in its best season since winning the state title in 2004. And while the Blue Ponies’ season has been over for a couple of weeks now, they received the credit they were due with plenty of Central A All-Conference honors.

On both sides of the ball, including honorable mentions, the Ponies earned 23 all conference selections.

Ryan Brandt had an outstanding season, and was rewarded accordingly. Brandt was named First Team All-Conference as the Ponies’ running back, but was also named the Central A Offensive MVP.

Offensively, HHS grabbed 11 total honors. Joey DeVries was named First-Team All-Conference at the center position, as was Evan Flathers at a tackle. Thurman Holdsclaw was also named First-Team All-Conference as a tight end, and Justin Jensen followed suit as Co-First Team quarterback. Casey Schaub grabbed first team as a punter and a fullback, and Brayden Grimson earned the first team nod as a wide receiver.

Trent Nystrom earned Second-Team All-Conference honors as a guard for the Ponies, and Kameron Pribyl was named Honorable Mention kicker.

On defense, the Ponies earned 12 accolades.

Receiving First-Team All-Conference honors was Flathers on the defensive line, Schaub as an inside linebacker, Eli Hinebauch as an outside linebacker and Grimson as a free safety. Brandt was also first team as a corner and return specialist. The Blue Pony defensive ends cleaned up, with Holdsclaw and Brandon Smith grabbing both first team honors.

Pribyl was named Second-Team All-Conference as an outside linebacker, and Donny Lohman received honorable mention on the line, as did Zach Plum at a corner.

Schaub was also the recipient of the Central A Defensive MVP for the Ponies.

HHS received more honors than any other team in the conference. Livingston followed with 17 total honors, and Lewistown was third with 14 honors. Browning received 12 honors, and Belgrade received 10.

Havre High swept the postseason honors for the Central with second-year head coach Jason Christenson earning Coach of the Year.
