A man was admitted into the hospital Friday night with a stab wound to the neck received just east of Havre.
According to Hill County Sheriff Don Brostrom, 49-year-old Havre man Randall Redeagle, was “going to a residence east of Havre. He went up to the door and was stabbed in the neck. ”
Redeagle was taken to Northern Montana Hospital, while his alleged assailant, 56-year-old Havre resident Kenneth Piapot, was arrested on charges including aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. The first Hill County Detention Center population roster to include him, however, lists his charge as attempted murder.
Redeagle was released from the hospital on Saturday.
An hour-and-a-half before the stabbing, a woman was arrested outside of Gary & Leo’s Fresh Foods on a disorderly conduct charge. Her address was the same as the location of the attack, though Havre Police Captain Bill Wilkinson said the two incidents are not related to his knowledge.
Brostrom said the incident is still under investigation. When the probe is completed, the case will be presented to the Hill County Attorney to decide the appropriate charges.
