The Holiday Break is over. High schools are back to business today and college students will be returning soon. And now that Christmas is in the rearview mirror and 2012 has begun, winter sports will certainly be front and center over the next two months.
The Havre High boys and girls basketball teams get back into action this weekend with games against Lewistown and Shelby. The Pony girls will be at home Friday night to host the Eagles, while the Pony boys host Class B Shelby on Saturday afternoon.
All HHS winter sports get back to work this weekend.
The Havre High wrestling team heads to Cut Bank for the prestigious Cut Bank Invitational Friday and Saturday, while the HHS boys and girls swim teams travel to Hardin for Friday’s Class A Invitational.
High school basketball will also be in full swing all week, as the District 9C, 10C, 1B and 2B all get going again.
At Northern, the long-awaited Frontier Conference season tips off Friday in Havre. The Lights and Skylights host the University of Great Falls in their Frontier openers Friday night. The MSU-N basketball teams are also at home to host UM-Western and Montana Tech next weekend.
The MSU-Northern wrestling team won’t dual at home again until Jan. 19 but the Lights will be back on the mat this weekend. Northern makes the long trip to Springfield, Ill., for NWCA National Duals Friday and Saturday.
The Havre Ice Hawks high school hockey team is also in full swing right now. The Ice Hawks are on the road to face Great Falls this week, but will return home next weekend for a pair of games against the Bozeman Ice Dogs.
