Northern's Laci Keller lets a shot go during Saturday night's Frontier Conference women's game against Carroll in Havre.

The MSU-Northern women got one for senior Laramie Schwenke. On senior night at the MSU-Northern Fieldhouse, the Skylights outscored the Saints 9-2 in the final minute to win 55-48 Saturday night. It's MSUN's third straight victory as the Skylights improved to 7-5 and 20-6 overall.

Saturday night's game was eerily similar to Northern's win last month in Helena. Neither team had full control until very late when the Skylights got some key stops defensively and made some clutch free throws. The Saints actually held 43-42 lead with 4:57 to play, but Northern's Jordan Bruursema scored four straight points, and Kyle Denham made two incredible plays down the stretch. Denham broke a 48-48 tie with a driving layup, then ended the next Carroll possession with a steal. Kelly Millager also came up with a big board and two free throws, while Schwenke fittingly ice the game with two foul shots of her own.

The game was nip and tuck throughout. The Skylights led early, but back-to-back 3-pointers gave the Saints a 25-23 halftime lead. MSU-N led for a good chuck of the second half, before the Saints responded, setting up an exciting finish.

Schwenke scored 18 points and Nikki Tresch totaled 11 including three triples. Bruursema added eight points, while Laci Keller scored eight and grabbed eight rebounds.

The Skylights have locked up at least the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Frontier playoffs, which will assure them of at least the first round at home. Northern closes the regular season by taking a three-game winning streak to Westminster on Thursday and LC State on Saturday.
