Havre Public Schools Superintendent Andy Carlson has announced that Craig Mueller, currently the Social Science Department Chair of Ottawa Township High School in Ottawa, Ill. has accepted the position of principal at Havre High School.

Mueller was one of four candidates interviewed earlier this week for the position, which has been held by Interim Principal and Athletic Director Dennis Murphy since Jerry Vandersloot left the position for another in Wyoming.

Mueller began teaching, as well as coaching basketball, baseball and soccer, in Naplate 18 years ago.

Since 2003 he has coordinated a number of programs there, starting with an independent study program then starting up a freshman mentoring program in 2008.

In 2009 he coordinated a Freshman Academy program.Just last year he was named the chair of the nearly 1,500-student school’s Social Science department.He will begin work in Havre on July 30.
