The Hi-Line’s home heating help program, Low Income Energy Assistance Program, is still accepting applications until 5 p.m., April 30.
Hundreds of applications have already been processed, but we know there are families who can benefit from the program and have not yet applied. If you live in the counties of Hill, Blaine or Liberty our office wants to help you.
The program, pronounced lee-app, is a supplement for paying home heating costs through the winter season. Such heating costs may be natural gas, electricity or propane. LIEAP may assist single people, families, elders, even college students, as long as they weren’t and are not claimed as a dependent. Eligibility requires a household to meet a certain gross income, limit on liquid assets, type of heating fuel used, size, type and location of a home. Please call for additional details. Assistance is available to homeowners, as well as renters!
If you have questions, please call the Energy Program-LIEAP, 265-6743 or (800) 640-6743. You may also request an application by mail or stop by the District IV HRDC office, 2229 5th Ave. Applications are also available online at: www.dphhs.mt.gov/programsservices/energyassistance/energyassistanceApp2011-2012.pdf.
