Havre High's Gunnar Aageson clears the bar during the boys pole vault at Tuesday afternoon's track and field dual between the Blue Ponies and the Class AA Great Falls High Bison.

When it was all said and done, the dual meet between the hosting Havre High Blue Ponies and the visiting Great Falls High Bison was a numbers game.

The Central A Ponies were extremely outnumbered by the Class AA Bison, and it showed in the results. Each heat was packed with Bison competitors, while some heats and events had zero representing the Blue Ponies. The GFH girls defeated the Ponies 114-29 and the GFH boys defeated the Ponies 115-130.

In boys action, the Ponies were able to place in the top three 12 different times.

Marc Klimas had a busy afternoon, and placed three of those times. Mason Case and Michael Richards also helped carry the load by placing two times each. Klimas highlighted his efforts with a No. 1 finish in the 3200 (11:14), but also placed third in the 800 (2:22.9) and third in the 1600 (4:59.7). Richards had two third place finishes. Richards finished the 110 hurdles in 18.2 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 50.7 seconds. Case continued to dominate the sprints this season, finishing first in the 100 meter in 11.2 and first in the 200 meter in a time of 23.3.

Kade Rismon had a solid day in the shot put, finishing third with a toss of 39-4. And Michael ANtley did his best in the javelin, finishing third with a throw of 139-11, while Tyson Kultgen finished third in the 400 meter with a time of 59.7.

The pole vault was another point grabber for the Ponies, with two individuals placing in the top three. Thurman Holdsclaw grabbed another No. 1 finish after clearing 11-6, and Matt Emge tied for second place after clearing 11-0.

And in girls’ action, the Ponies grabbed nine top finishes.

Sammy Evans led the way with three No. 1 finishes. She was the No. 1 high jumper, clearing 5-2, and the No. 1 triple jumper, leaping over 34-10, and in a surprise event, Evans was also the No. 1 finisher in the 100-meter sprint. Evans competed in the 100 for the first time, and finished with a time of 13.1.

Ashlynn VanVoast also helped lead the way with two top finishes. VanVoast was third in the 200 with a time of 28.9 and first in the 300 hurdles with a time of 51.1. Peyton Filius also placed third in the 800 (2:34.8), while Haley Ohm was first in the 1600 (6:32.3) and Kiana Stump was third in the 1600 (6:44.8).

Neya Bischoff was the only HHS thrower to place for the girls, grabbing a third place finish in the javelin with a throw of 75-10.

HHS will get right back into action on Saturday, when they travel to Belgrade.
