Area track teams, including the Havre High boys and girls are in the midst of a busy portion of the schedule. And prep athletes took full advantage of a warm and sunny Tuesday afternoon.

    The Blue Ponies and other local teams were in Malta Tuesday afternoon for the Malta Athletic Club Invitational. On the boys side, the Pony boys took third with 71 points, while Chinook scored 83 points and took second behind host Malta. The Chinook girls captured the meet with 111 points, while Malta was second. The HHS girls were fourth with 50 points. The North Star girls took fifth.

    Individually, the Ponies swept the 1,600 meters and 3,200 meters, with Garret Augillard winning the 1,600 and Marc Klimas taking the 3,200. HHS also got a win from Thurman Holdsclaw in the pole vault, while Matt Emge finished second, Thomas Gruber fourth and Gunnar Aageson sixth.

    Chinook got wins from Dylan Surber in both the 400 and 800 meters, and Zach Molyneaux in the discus. Barry Murnion also won the high jump for the Beeters on Tuesday.

    On the girls side, Lacey Waid was the lone winner for the Ponies. Waid won the pole vault, and teammate Peyton Filius also placed. Waid also placed in the 100, while Filius placed in the distances. Ashlynn Van Voast also placed in multiple events for the Ponies.

    The Beeters got a win by Hannah Webber in the 800, and they also dominated the hurdles.Kayla Hanson swept both hurdle events, while Tayla Johnson, Summer Edwards and Paige Moxley also placed. Brittney Nelson also won the discus and placed in other throws, as did Makhayla Farmer in the throws and jumps.

    North Star's Lisa Carlon swept the high jump and triple as well.

    The Havre High track teams will be right back on the road on Saturday when the Ponies travel to Whitefish.
