Katelynn Montagino, 10, holds the hand of her father, Matt Montagino, closely while praying during the annual National Day of Prayer event at Town Square Thursday afternoon.

The crowd gathered in a tent on Town Square Thursday, to help celebrate World Day of Prayer.

The annual gathering is sponsored locally by the Greater Havre Area Ministerial Association.

A band consisting of area ministers performed inspirational and patriotic music, as participants chatted and helped prepare food that community members were invited to take part in.

The band led the crowd in singing "My Country 'Tis of Thee," "America the Beautiful" and "I'm Proud to be an American."

Brian Barrows, pastor of Abundant Life Ministries and the main speaker at the event, talked about the hope that Christians have in the future despite all the "gloom and doom," people hear about on the news.

"You have to believe that God is, and he is our creator," Barrows told the crowd.

Although the Gospel of St. Matthew says "you know not the hour of the day," Barrows said he wouldn't be surprised if the end were near, based in biblical prophecy.

Ministers then took turns praying for the city, the Hi-Line, the state and the nation.
