There was plenty of excitement at Prairie Farms Golf Course this past week as the Rotary Club put on two of the biggest golf events of the summer.

Last week saw the Rotary Golf Camp have another successful run as over 40 kids participated in the three day camp. As a golf enthusiast I would like to thank Jim Kato, Doug Sheppard and every one who is involved in putting on the Rotary Camp, as it is important to give our youth golfers something like that to participate in.

Over the weekend, the annual Rotary Blast Golf Tournament was held and Dave and Tammy Boles took first place in the modified stableford scoring tournament. Congrats to Dave and Tammy.

Golf leagues are reaching the critical point in the season, as there is only a few weeks left before the playoffs.

Last Tuesday night in Prairie Farms men’s league action, Eric Fee fired a 2-under par 34 to earn low-gross honors. Tom Patrick scored a 29 to earn low net and Northern Edge and Hi-Line tied for high team with 22 points.

Last Wednesday saw Michelob Light and Valley Furniture tie for high team with 22 points. Mike Purkett shot a 1-under par 35 for low gross and Ryan Mapes was low net with a 30.5.

In more league news, on Tuesdsay night, current MSU-Northern golfer Jeremy Jensen fired an astounding 30 at Prairie Farms. That's 6-under par. Way to go Jeremy.

Last Thursday at Beaver Creek Golf Course, Nalivka’s Pizza and Stone Child College each scored 23.5 points for high team. Frank Henry was low gross with a 37 and Rob The Boy was low net with a 37. There is only two weeks left before the men’s league playoffs begin at BCGC.

There were no league results posted from ladies league this past week.

Havre High’s golf season will be beginning soon. The first day of golf practice is Aug. 9 and all student-athletes must have a sports physical before they can participate. There will also be a parent meeting for all fall sports on Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. in the high school. All parents of student-athletes wishing to participate in golf should be in attendance.
