Men’s fastpitch softball teams have brought a lot of hardware back to Havre — for seemingly decades now.
Some Havre teams have even wont t
hat hardware right at the Sixth Avenue Memorial Softball Field over years and years of great competition.
And one such team brought hardware home just last weekend.
The Gallery Lounge of Havre won the 2012 Montana Men’s State Fastpitch Softball Tournament last weekend in Missoula, beating Boomers of Missoula 8-4 in the championship game last Sunday afternoon.
The Havre team was led by tournament MVP and longtime Havre pitching legend Gary Jo Evans, who now resides in Missoula. The team was also composed of Havre’s Danny and Patch Wirtzberger, Scott Miller, Gary Wagner, Billy Wagner, Andy Smith, Kyle Sheppard, longtime Havre resident Ryan Knudson and two more players from Kalispell who came with Evans.
For the tournament, Evans was named Most Valuable Player, while Gary Wagner earned the top hitter award.
