The MSU-Northern volleuyball team celebrates a point during Saturday night's Frontier Conference match between the Skylights and Carroll College at the Armory Gymnasium.

The Montana State University-Northern volleyball team turned a big corner on Saturday night, and the Skylights had a little fun in the process. Northern christened the currently-being-remodeled Armory Gymnasium Saturday night with an emphatic four-set win over the nationall-ranked Carroll College Fighting Saints. The Skylights beat the No. 15 Saints by scores of 23-25, 25-19, 25-13 and 25-18 in what was the Frontier Conference opener for both teams.

After dropping the frist set to the Saints, Northern was nearly unstoppable on offense, as a crowd of nearly 500 rocked the new-look Armory. MSU-N hit in the plus side for the match, totaled an astounding 99 digs and seven blocks on defense served nine aces. Hillary Isleifson totaled 16 kills and 12 digs, while Kelsey Williams added 12 kills and Abby Nicholas totaled nine. Williams, Nicholas and Isleifson each had two blocks and Holly Cartwright totaled a match-high 35 digs as Northern moved to 1-0 in the Frontier and 7-8 overall.

MSU-N will be back at home next Friday to host Rocky Mountain College and Saturday to take on Dickinson State.
