AnaBelle Pepple Monson passed away at Sweet Home in Chinook, Mont., on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at the age of 92.
AnaBelle was born in Williston, N.D., on Aug. 5, 1920. She graduated from Williston High School in 1938 and married Milo Monson, a young weatherman, on June 26, 1938. They lived in Missoula, Mont., Portland, Ore., and Seattle, Wash., before settling in Havre more than 60 years ago.
AnaBelle was active in the American Cancer Society for many years, holding several state positions. She and Milo were landlords to many people, treating them as if they were family. She enjoyed playing cards, especially participating in several weekly bridge clubs with her friends. AnaBelle enjoyed traveling the globe, but always said Havre was the best place to come home to.
AnaBelle was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Anna (Bickel) Pepple; her husband of more than 60 years, Milo Monson; her daughter, Lynda Wolford; two sisters, Dorothy Roberts and Merle Pepple; and a brother, Ronald Pepple.
AnaBelle is survived by her grandson, Vince (Kim) Scofield; and her great-grandchildren, Lauren and Trey Scofield, all of Havre; nieces Linda (Walt) Hardy of Bellingham Wash., Julie (Tom) Robertson of Amelia Island, Fla., and Jalaine Wark of Missoula; nephews, Denny (Donna) Gibbs of Missoula, and Marty (Shelly) Gibbs of Lewiston, Idaho; and a sister-in-law, Norma Gibbs of Missoula.
The family would like to extend its gratitude to the staff at the Sweet Home for the considerate care that was given to AnaBelle during the last few months of her life.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
