Carol Troy, 78, passed away on Oct. 13, 2012, in Boise, Idaho, from Alzheimer’s complications. She was born in 1934 in Bismarck, N.D., to Joe and Betty Bullinger.
As a young girl, Carol’s family moved to Havre, Mont. After graduating from high school, Carol attended Minneapolis School of Technology and earned her certification in Medical Lab Technology.
Carol and her husband Tom met and married in Havre.
Through their 57 years of marriage, Tom and Carol enjoyed living in many different places — from their family-owned motel in Livingston, Mont. to Spokane, Wash., Caldwell and Nampa, Idaho, and finally to Boise, where they lived the past 37 years. Carol never seemed daunted by the task of packing up and moving: she made it an adventure even with five kids in tow.
Everywhere they called home, she made sure there was plenty of room for family, friends, pets, basketball and backyard games.
Carol’s home always included a big dining room where there was room at the table for anyone in need of a good meal. Her motto was “there is always room for at least one more chair. ”
Carol devoted herself to her husband and family in a selfless, spirited and loving way. She was a reservoir of strength and found great solace in her Catholic faith. Carol cherished her 10 grandchildren and great-grandchild.
She was a talented golfer and, more often than not, took Tom for his quarters on their evening golf outings.
She also loved playing bridge with “the girls, ” bowling, camping, fishing, Christmas time and anything else that included family and friends. She served as both mentor and friend to the many lives she touched.
Carol is survived by her husband Tom; four sons, Tim (Debbie), Jerry (Teresa), Ron (Yvette) and Mark (Kristin) ; daughter, Terry (Jerry) Myers; 10 grandchildren, one great-grand child; and sisters, Emily Lamey and Betty Jo Malsam.
A memorial Mass will be held in Carol’s honor at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 1 p. m., on Thursday, Oct. 18. A reception for family and friends commemorating Carol’s life will follow at The Club at SpurWing Golf Course, at 2:30 p. m.
