The Havre City Council gathered Monday night at City Hall to approve a parade route, to discuss electric power supply and mill over a rate increase for city water customers.
President of the City Council Helen Hill filled in for Mayor Phyllis Leonard who is on holiday.
The Fresno Chapter of Walleyes Unlimited placed a request to the city concering a parade route. The parade route was aproved pending proof of proper insurance from Walleyes Unlimited providing protection in the event of a mishap.
Next on the agenda, the City Council considered the approval of the agency agreement and the purchase of an electric power supply due to the deregulation of the power industry.
Councilman Lowell Swenson said the League of Cities and Towns is a pool in which communities subscribe for the purpose of purchasing electricity. He said City Attorney Jim Chase reviewed the agenda and had some question regarding the pact questions that have not yet been answered.
The City Council voted to give Mayor Leonard and Council
President Hill the power to act on the electrical supply once satisfied the conditions raised in their questions have been answered.
Also on the agenda was a resolution calling a public meeting for the purpose of considering a rate increase for water users. The council said the increase would not exceed 15 percent of the total annual revenue of the municipal water system as allowed under Montana Code Annotated 69-7-101.
The motion passed and a public meeting will be set.
On Thursday, May 8 at 7 p.m., negotiations for contracts will take place at City Hall. The Parks and Recreation Board will meet May 17 at 7 p.m., and the Ordinance Committee will meet at 7:15.
