EVAN THOMPSON
Evan L. Thompson, 85, a resident of Havre, died Monday, May 10, 1999, at a Havre hospital of natural causes.
Memorial services will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, at the Van Orsdel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kathy Young officiating. Interment of ashes will be at a later date at the Choteau Cemetery.
Thompson was born June 5, 1913, at Dupuyer to George and Annie Thompson. He was a graduate of Choteau High School.
On May 15, 1946, he married Catherine Bitting in Choteau. The couple resided there and Conrad and then moved to Havre in 1961. He was employed for Weir Furniture and Browns Hardware.
Thompson was a member of the Van Orsdel United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows. He enjoyed reading, repairing things, and volunteering at the Havre City Library.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine, his parents, a brother, William Golder, and a sister, Hazel Scott.
Survivors include daughters, Mardele Toth of Havre, and Barbara Powelson of Billings; a sister, Eva Kregness of Mesa, Ariz.; and three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Van Orsdel United Methodist Church or to the Havre-Hill County Library.
