The Chester Coyotes wrapped up both the boys and girls 10C District titles yesterday in Great Falls. The Chester boys finished with 232 points and the girls finished with 258. The top five finishers from each event move on to next weeks divisional meet in Great Falls.
On the boys side it was Brent Riggin winning the 100 meter and 200 with times of 11.34 seconds and 22.64, respectively. Riggin also won the long jump with a leap of 19 feet and 9 inches. Eric Kleinsasser got the job done by taking top honors in the javelin with a throw of 192-11. Kleinsasser also won the discus with a throw of 137-0. Chesters Jeff Graham picked up a top spot in the 300 hurdles with a time of 40.64. Zeb Engstrom cleared 10-6 in the pole vault to tie for the win. In the 500 it was Sean Weinert winning the event with a 2:06.03. The Coyotes boys also set new meet record in both the 400 and 1600 relay events with times of 45.30 and 3:31.50.
For the Chester girls Carlye VanDyke won the 1600 with a time of 5:54.70 and also the 800 as she recorded a 2:33.15. Johanna Johnson and Mari Temple tied for the top spot in the pole vault as they both cleared 7-0. It was Michele VanDyke winning the high jump as she cleared 5-2 to tie for the win. In the javelin it was Carlene Jensen taking top honors with a throw of 115-8. In the 3200 Hannah Brown won with a 13:77.33. It was Emily Tranberg winning the 300 hurdles with a mark of 51.95. Chesters girls also won both relays as they put up a time of 54.49 in the 400 relay and 4:27.94 in the 1600 relay.
The J-I Rams were also at the meet and Auston Sutton beat the field in the 1600 and 3200 as he finished with times of 5:04.34 and 10:42.25. Joe Kvernum was on the heels of Sutton as he took second in the 1600 and third in the 3200 to qualify. Ivan VanDessel also qualified for divisionals for J-I in the 800, taking fourth place.
