Havre Public Schools Board of Trustees honored district employees during its annual PRIDE Celebration at Havre High School Monday night.
Teacher of the Year honors went to Judy Wolfe, life science, reading, and social studies teacher at Havre Middle School.
Honored as classified employee of the year was Ann Remus, counseling center secretary at HHS.
The program included awards, entertainment and refreshments served by Havre High School cheerleaders in the gym. Entertainment was provided by Tyrell Lundman on piano and a troupe of HHS students Sabrina Clawson, Sarah Dodson, Nicole Gustafson, Heidi Hinckley, Tami Huestis, and Nick Porter performing Broomhilde (The Broom Dance).
Six retiring teachers were recognized by trustees, the district and their peers:
Janet Boe, a custodian with the district since September 1974;
Gladys Bymaster, elementary teacher since 1977, was active in HEA, MEA and NEA, served with the Sunnyside Parent Teacher Organization, reading council, Delta Kappa Gamma, and member of St. Jude Catholic Church;
Mary Lou Delaire, elementary teacher at Highland Park School this year, was with the district for 22 years;
John Gillispie, started as temporary and substitute bus driver for the district in 1976, becoming a custodian in 1986 and retiring as head custodian/first engineer at Havre High;
Dennis Kuntz, joined Havre district in 1973, taught social studies at Havre Junior High/Middle School and served as department chair;
Sylvia Purkett, held numerous clerical positions with the district since 1972, working for 16 different principals and assistant principals.
Presentations throughout the evening included pins in recognition of years of service in five year increments.
Five-year award winners were: Kathy Bebee, Robin LaBrie, John Larsen, Daniel Olson, Ronald Phifer, Carol Pleninger, Deanna Reynolds, Barbara Schend, Linda Warneke, Jamie Whitethorn, Janet Williams.
10-year awards: Roberta Adams, Kenneth Burton, David Carlson, Judy Jones, Barry Kato, Daniel Koffler, Karen Nave, Valeri Stremcha.
15-year awards: Barbara Arensmeyer, Wilfred Fitzpatrick Jr., Martha Greshock, Charlotte Gwynn, Hugh Gwynn, Darla Kaercher, Suzanne Musgrove, Betty Stenzel.
20-year awards: Wayne Bolken, Judy Ireland, DeeDee Jennings, Robert Lanning, Lucinda Otto, Cheryl Schaub, Karen Scheuerman, Bonnie Shiflett, Mary Wagner.
25-year awards: Janet Boe, Vickie Cariveau, Richard Davey, Sandra Evenson, Karen Murri, Charles Sheldon, Sharon Shepherd, Pamela Smith, Rose Tierney.
30-year awards: Keith Evenson and Franklin Peterson.
