BIG SANDY A. Eileen Berlinger, 68, died June 3, 1999, of long-term cancer at the Big Sandy Medical Center.
A rosary service will be Monday, June 7, at 7 p.m. and funeral mass will be Tuesday, June 8, at 10 a.m. Both will be held at the Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Big Sandy. Burial will take place at the Big Sandy Cemetery.
She was born in Ardnagreevagh Renvyle County, Galway, Ireland, to Austin and Margaret OMalley on Aug. 30, 1930. She came to the United States in 1950 and was an indentured servant for one year in Big Sandy. She then went to New York for three years and returned to Big Sandy.
She married Wilfred Berlinger on Oct. 8, 1955, and they farmed there.
She was a member of the Saint Margaret Mary Altar Society.
She is survived by her husband of Big Sandy; a son, Wesley Berlinger, Big Sandy; two daughters, Sharin Field, Big Sandy and Patricia Richardson, Pendroy; two brothers, John OMalley, Brooklyn, N.Y., and Charles OMalley, Andnagreevagh, Ireland; three sisters, Nora Walsh, Brooklyn, N.Y., Christine OMalley, Andnagreevagh, Ireland, and Florence Rose, Big Sandy; 11 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Maureen Shaw of North Ireland, Lilly Devereux of Seldon Long Island, N.Y., and Kathleen Berlinger of Big Sandy; and a brother, Tom OMalley of Brooklyn, N.Y.
