Havre Public Schools is asking for two community members who are willing to make a significant commitment in order to serve on a committee that will review the possible addition or elimination of student athletic activities at Havre High School.
The task force, as termed by Superintendent Kirk Miller, is currently being formed to provide the Havre School Board of Trustees with a series of requests addressing the addition and/or deletion of athletic programs at Havre High.
We need someone who is a decent listener and can come into this with an open mind and not an agenda of their own, Miller said.
The committee will have 19 members that will include, among others, coaches, students, activities directors in town, parents and community members.
The two community members must be willing to commit anywhere from 20-40 hours of evening meeting time over the next seven months, from September to February, Miller said.
The task force should have a draft proposal ready for presentation by Nov. 30. A final report containing the requests and changes should be ready by Feb. 8.
As Ive said, athletics are the heart of this community, Miller said. The end product will be a person who meets the criteria of task force membership and would be interested in serving in this capacity. Anyone interested can contact the superintendents office at 265-4356.
The task force will represent all parties affected by any additions or deletions in Havre High athletics. It will seek public input and will hold public meetings to receive input. It will not, however, make any final decisions in this process.
