Five area athletes have been asked to play in the 53rd annual East-West High School All-Star Classic football game in Great Falls on Saturday.

Matt Kegel will start at quarterback for the East team. Jarrod Wirt, Bryan Thompson, Steve Keeler and Chinooks Larry Klingaman were also invited to the game.

Moral and good people, thats the key thing, said Shriner Hank Tweeten. Its about more than just being a good athlete, he continued, being a good person is also important.

All proceeds go to support the Shriners Hospitals for Children across the United States.

For the fifth straight year, a golf tournament will also be held at the Speck Golf Course in Great Falls on Friday, July 23, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

The golf tournament has generated around $26,000 in four years, Tweeten said. Another $10,000 is expected this year.

In 52 years of support, the football game has generated almost $750,000 to help support the 22 Shriners hospitals. There are 18 orthopedic hospitals, three burn centers and one orthopedic, burn and spinal cord injury treatment center, Tweeten said.

A parade at noon, Saturday, will kick off football day. The game begins at 7 p.m. KOJM of Havre will air the classic beginning at 6:30 p.m.
