Master blasters: Challenge seeks loud

Who has the best and loudest car stereo? Do you think its you?

This weekend on Saturday, July 31, anyone who thinks his or her stereos the best stereo will have a chance to prove it when Holdens Hot Wheels hosts the International Auto Sound Challenge Association (IASCA) competition in the First Security Bank parking lot.

About 40 cars from Canada and the northwest are expected to compete in the Saturday event, said Christy Holden, spokesperson for Holdens Hot Wheels.

Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and judging is expected to start about 9:30 a.m.

The competition is open to all classes of competitors and trophies will be awarded to the winners in each class.

Stereos will be judged in areas of sound quality, creativity and IDBL (stereo with the greatest volume) in four classes, Novice, Amateur, Pro and Expert.

The cost to enter a car in the competition will be $25 for Novice, $35 for Amateur, and $45 for Pro and Expert, classes.

Holden said points are also awarded to winner that will apply toward national awards.
