Demo derby crashes through fair

Moving the night of the Havre Jaycee Demolition Derby from the Sunday night grand finale event to Friday night didnt seem to change anything.

Before a sellout crowd, 23 derby cars and eight Herby cars crunched, crashed and slammed their way to top prizes.

Pat Hulett won the championship heat, collecting $1,500 and a trophy sponsored by Champion Auto. Sandy Strauser was in the No. 2 spot and won $414 for the effort and a trophy sponsored by High Line Auto Parts.

Kurt Shulund won the Herby Derby, taking home $360 and a trophy sponsored by Master Sports. Shulunds car won the best paint job prize and he received a jacket sponsored by Havre Ford.

Trevor Smith of Garbage Inc. was the highest bidder in the calcutta, which earned him a jacket sponsored by Altec Graphics. Chad McCormack purchased the winning car in the calcutta, and he took home $1552.

The car driven by Kurt Shuland was selected as having the best paint job and he received a jacket sponsored by Havre Sears.

The highest bidder in the Calcuta Auction was Trevor Smith of Garbage Inc. and he received a jacket sponsored by Altec Graphics.

Chad McCormak purchased the winning car during the Calcutta Auction and received $1552.
